Axel Köhler

Activist researcher, co-founder of the Artists, Community Communicators, and Anthropologists’ Network in Chiapas (RACCACH) in 2008 and of the Indigenous Videographers of the Southern Border Project (PVIFS) in 2001. Dissatisfied with the coloniality and the entrapments of the academic system that its members –its silent majority– continue to accept without resistance. I'm trying to find shared research practices that deliver useful results for its non-academic participants. My current interest focuses on the development of a shared methodological path to form community communicators in a non-technology determined fashion, in order to support the media struggles of social organisations. I have institutional employment as a researcher-lecturer in the Centre for Advanced Studies in Mexico and Central America of the University of Science and Arts of Chiapas. I participated in the Organizing Committee of the II International Encounter of RETOS in Chiapas.
